My Wartime Reading and Recipe Books

Over the course of my writing posts on this blog, more of these books that appear on my header photograph will be shown in close up.  If there is one you really want to see sooner, just let me know and I'll take a photo and tell you what I think of it.

This is the ONE book I would highly recommend you looking out for if you can.

It was originally published in 1941 but this edition is a 2009 publishing, although identical to the original.

The recipes in it and the nutritional information are the best I have come across in all of my books.

I'll be honest and say that the cover of this drew me in immediately.

Inside the box are these two books.

A really good read in a diary format, one person's war as it happened.

An easy to pick up and read a bit of at a time kind of book, I do like this sort of book for bedtime or when I'm cooking and need to dip in and dip out without losing track of a story.

Possibly THE book that everyone trying wartime rationing for themselves, or that is just interested by the wartime era should have.  It contains three of Marguerite Pattens most popular books ... 'We'll Eat Again', 'The Victory Cookbook' and Post-War Kitchen' ... all in one book.

And obviously it contains one of THE most popular and well known of wartime recipes.

An excellent read to accompany the television series of the same name.

I'll be back with more of my book collection soon.
