I am in the process of gearing up for this Challenge, which is now becoming more of a way of living for the future for me rather than just a month-long Challenge. But I will be doing a month of wartime rationing to kick-start things and sticking quite rigidly to my modern wartime rations and then re-evaluating at the end of the month.
In the meantime, alongside eating my way through modern foods from the store cupboard and donating the modern processed foods that I no longer want to eat via the Olio App I am doing lots of research.
Some might call it reading books and watching Dvd's but I am calling it research. 😁

Of course it is research . . . anyone who might think otherwise is being snarky. I am so looking forward to what you will share on this journey, and what I might learn. 🙂
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you agree ... I do love a bit of research. ;-)
DeleteThey are getting harder and harder to find now, I think probably because more and more people are realising that a wartime rationing style of eating and the recipes of that era are fitting in so well with the current economic climate and our need to save both money and fuel. I know a couple of the books that I have are worth quite a bit of money if I were to sell them directly on Ebay or Amazon.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your efforts and still watch 1940s House when I can find it, always something to learn. Best to you.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed sitting down and binge watching all the episodes over two evenings.
DeleteSo looking forward to your latest venture, it is something I have often thought of doing but haven't got the oomph at the moment to do all the research and planning and being vegan I can rely on you to do the work for me and I can pinch your ideas :) . I do need to be low carb at the moment so I might have to jiggle it a bit, nothing wrong with a little jiggle. This way of eating shows us respect for our food which is sadly lacking in our modern way of eating, fortunately my husband is a meat and two veg man and doesn't mind replacing expensive meat for the odd sausage, spam and corned beef so he will be no problem. Thanking you in anticipation, Chrissie x
ReplyDeleteHaha ... you are very welcome to pinch all my ideas ... if I have any. ;-)
DeleteAlan loved the Spam fritters that I made him last time we both did the Challenge together.
